George A. Romero speaks at KVIFF talks, the Czech film Home Care enters the competition, and Richard Gere presents Franny.
On the third day of the 50th annual KVIFF, don’t miss the Australian film Partisan (Grand Hall, 11:30), which will be personally introduced by director Ariel Kleiman and thirteen-year-old actor Jeremy Chabriel. At 13:00 in the Vodafone Lounge of the Thermal Hotel is this year’s first KVIFF Talk with one of the founders of modern horror, George A. Romero.
Also taking place in the Thermal Hotel is a special screening of the films of recently deceased FAMU student Aramisova (Cinema C, 13:30). From 14:00 at the Dvory Racecourse you can cheer on your favorites in the annual festival race, the Josef Váňa Cup.
Tea at Three at the Czech Television House will today feature the director of Home Care, Slávek Horák, along with actresses Alena Mihulová and Tatiana Vilhelmová and actor Bolek Polívka. The film itself is competing for the Crystal Globe and will be shown for the first time at 20:00 in the Grand Hall. Other entries in the Official Selection competition include the drama Babai (Grand Hall, 14:00) and the Ukrainian Song of Songs (Grand Hall, 17:00).
Two films in the East of the West competition will have their world premieres: the internationally co-produced mosaic You Carry Me (Karlovy Vary Theatre, 15:00) and the Polish Chemo (Karlovy Vary Theatre, 18:30), a film about the search for love and fighting a terminal illness. We invite you to the unveiling of Václav Havel’s place (Sady Karla IV, 16:00) and the announcement of the Official Selection of the European Parliament’s 2015 LUX film prize (Thermal Hotel, 18:30).
In one of the Six Close Encounters, Belgian Michaël R. Roskam will present the most significant film in his life, Rififi (Karlovy Vary Theatre, 21:30). Afterward, he will personally introduce his crime film The Drop (Pupp, 22:00). His Norwegian colleague Bobbie Peers will unveil his debut film, The Disappearing Illusionist (Pupp, 19:00), in its international premiere.
Richard Gere, together with director Andrew Reznim, will greet viewers for the last time before a screening of the film Franny (Grand Hall, 22:30). The third day of the festival will conclude at midnight with the world premiere of The Greedy Tiffany in the Čas Cinema.
