Forum of Independents - Competition 2003 / All the Real Girls / USA 2003
A story about first love which avoids all the love story clichés: a contemporary and honest portrait of young people living in a small provincial US town.
22-year-old Paul lives in a small, unprosperous North Carolina town, where he has spent his entire life. He lives here with his mom, works for his uncle and has a small group of lifelong and loyal friends. Paul’s girlfriends, however, are neither lifelong nor loyal: his charm has led to a string of broken hearts for which he feels little, if any, remorse. But Paul’s easy-going life changes dramatically when he meets Noel, his friend Tip’s 18-year-old sister. Noel has spent most of her life away at boarding school and she has just graduated and returned home. As summer progresses, both Paul and Noel discover that real love comes at a price which is sometimes too high. A story about first love which avoids all the love story clichés: a contemporary and honest portrait of young people living in a small provincial US town.
