All alone and heavily pregnant, Samia comes across many things in conservative Morocco, but understanding isn’t one of them. Talented newcomer Maryam Touzani's understated drama about the magical power of human solidarity, delicious pastries, and Moroccan music was cheered by audiences at this year’s Cannes fest, where it competed in Un Certain Regard.
