A large delegation introduced the world première of the new long-term documentary by Helena Třeštíková Mallory. The film follows more than a decade in the life of a former drug addict and homeless woman with bad luck in men who decides to help others. The emotional film evoked several standing ovations. Jiří Bartoška also came to the world premiere with a bouquet of flowers. It was the KVIFF president who met a pregnant Mallory on the Charles Bridge in 2001 and gave her some money and after a long conversation with him she decided to quit drugs. She kept her promise, but her life did not become easy, as the new documentary documents.
But it wasn't Jiří Bartoška who introduced Mallory to Helena Třeštíková. "We met in 2002, when I was invited to a film about addiction. My topic was women and drugs. I was tipped off about Mallory so I went to her and said 'Hi' and that was it," said the director, describing their meeting. Viewers were very interested in the passage in her new work where Mallory was making the rounds of rather unwilling municipal offices in attempt to get a flat she could move into with her son. "We would be glad if this movie elicits discussion on the necessity of social housing, which is often lacking," said Helena Třeštíková.
