David, a young man with a mental handicap who runs away from home and wanders aimlessly around Prague, presented himself in the world première of the eponymous film by Jan Těšitel, which is competing in the Forum of Independents. Instead of breaking out of the domestic routine, however, in Prague David encounters only misunderstanding, loneliness and above all his own thoughts, from which he cannot run away.
The debut of this young director rests on the acting of Patrik Holubář. "Originally I had a different idea about what David was like. I wanted to be inspired by the actor Sam Riley from the biographical film about Joy Division Control, but then I got a recommendation for Patrik and he convinced me so thoroughly that I abandoned my original vision," the director revealed at a discussion with viewers.
Holubář himself, a student of the theatre school DAMU, in his depiction of a handicapped boy drew on a theatre performance in which he works with handicapped people. "I also sat at Žofín and considered what to put into the film from the world around me," the novice actor told the audience.
