The last day of the 52nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival also marks the beginning of the festival’s “echoes” called Šary Vary. From 8 to 16 July, at the Aero and Světozor cinemas in Prague and at the Scala cinema in Brno, audiences can catch up with films they might have missed during the festival in Karlovy Vary. This year’s program features 29 different movies.
The selected films include director Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver about a talented getaway driver. Audiences can also see the four entrants in the festival’s main competition: Breaking News (Romania), The Line (Slovakia), Little Crusader (Czech Republic), and Birds Are Singing in Kigali (Poland). We will also be showing The Big Sick, which was the festival’s opening film, Wind River, which was personally introduced in Vary by actor Jeremy Renner, Finland’s The Other Side of Hope and Vít Klusák’s controversial documentary The White World According to Daliborek. Older films on the program include John Ford’s legendary Hollywood film The Searchers and the 1980 cult film The Blue Lagoon.
