The Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa has brought two films to this year’s Karlovy Vary, Victory Day and Donbass. In an interview he discusses the former, a documentary about spectacular annual celebrations of the victory of the Red Army at Berlin’s Treptower Park. He also considers all that has changed, and that has stayed the same, in Russia since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
First-hand brews throughout the year.
