The first ever film from Kurdistan in the Crystal Globe competition, the social drama The Exam, got its world premiere at the Grand Hall at Thermal on Wednesday evening, when it was presented by a delegation headed by director Shawkat Amin Korki. In an interview, he explains why university exams are such crucially important matters in his part of the world, how the film spotlights women’s rights, and conditions for filmmaking in Kurdistan today.
