Actor Ethan Hawke is one of the big stars at this year’s Karlovy Vary and will receive the festival’s President’s Award at the festival’s gala closing ceremony on Saturday. On Friday the Hollywood star introduced his 2017 film First Reformed at the Grand Hall at Hotel Thermal after being greeted warmly on the red carpet. In an interview, he said he would have made the intense First Reformed “on a phone” and discussed his very fruitful, long-running collaboration with director Richard Linklater.
