Today’s pick of films in the Special Screenings section will have an overlap with current most pressing social issues. Slow is about intimacy in a relationship where one of the partners is asexual. The film has won the Directing Award at Sundance. It will have its European premiere at 2:00 p.m. at the Grand Hall. At 7:00 p.m. at the Pupp Cinema you can see Temporaries, a social drama about the exploitation of immigrant workers on a Canadian farm.
Two films will also be presented in the Proxima Competition – a documentary about a Romanian priest and mystic Arsenie. An Amazing Afterlife starts at 4:00 p.m. at the Karlovy Vary Municipal Theatre. Imago, a portrait of a young artist tormented by inner demons who finds refuge in a bohemian life of parties in Poland’s Tricity, also starts at the Karlovy Vary Municipal Theatre at 7:00 p.m.
From Sunday onwards, regular Meet & Greet sessions will be taking place at the KVIFF.TV Park where the audience will have a chance to talk to the filmmakers delegations representing the competition films. From 1:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. you can get to know the creators of the playful Spanish debut The Girls Are Alright.
Tonight at 8:00 p.m., you can look forward to the world premiere of the Czech film A Sensitive Person at the Grand Hall of Hotel Thermal. The star-studded roadmovie based on a novel by Jáchym Topol and directed by Tomáš Klein will enter the Crystal Globe Competition.
Once you’ve had your share of movies for the day, you can dance in complete silence at Silent disco starting at 9:00 at the Vodafone Zone. Emma Smetana & Jordan Haj’s concert starts at Mattoni Life Bar at the same time, followed by the master of electronic music NobodyListen at 10:00 p.m. and rapper Redzed at 11:00 p.m.
