The 19th edition of the Pragueshorts Film Festival, organized under the auspices of the Karlovy Vary IFF, will take place from 26 February to 2 March 2025 in Prague's Světozor, Bio Oko, Ponrepo and Kino Pilotů cinemas. The online part of the festival will take place from 2 March to 23 March 2025 at the KVIFF.TV streaming platform.
The audience can once again look forward to a selection of the most outstanding short films from Czech and international filmmakers. Like in previous years, the core of the festival's program will consist of three competition sections: International, National and LABO, dedicated to experimental films. In the International Competition, the audience will see more than twenty short films from all over the world, and in the National Competition, fifteen films produced in the Czech Republic. The festival's programers are currently finalizing the selection of films - 1200 films have been submitted to the International Competition this year alone.
The competition sections will be complemented by the popular live moderated Brutal Relax Show, special screenings for children and other thematic screenings. Most of the films in the programme will be available for online viewing on the KVIFF.TV streaming platform from 2 March, the last day of the physical part of the festival. The online part of Pragueshorts will run until 23 March and will be available to all KVIFF.TV subscribers across the Czech Republic.
The selection of films in the National Competition will be announced in mid-January, and the full festival programme will be released in early February. The winning films of the 19th Pragueshorts Festival will be announced on 1 March.
First-hand brews throughout the year.
