Three films from last year’s Karlovy Vary film festival – the Czech documentary I’m Not Everything I Want to Be, the American horror The Substance, and the Czech animated film Living Large – can now be seen exclusively on KVIFF.TV.
Director Coralie Fargeat shocking film starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley won Best Screenplay at Cannes, has been nominated for five Golden Globes, and is a favorite for the Oscars. And it is now available exclusively on KVIFF.TV!
The Substance has been a hit during its cinematic release, although for some viewers it was too much too handle. If you’ve heard about this satirical horror’s disturbing reputation and don’t dare to see it in a darkened cinema, perhaps you would prefer to watch it from the comfort of your own home, since you can take a breather any time you need. We recommend going all in on The Substance! Starting at just CZK 55 for subscribers.
I’M NOT EVERYTHING I WANT TO BE
International photography legend Libuše Jarcovjáková is a truly unique woman who has defied all conventions. Her life is a mosaic of fascinating encounters and wild stories, from the rough underground scene of communist Czechoslovakia to exclusive photo shoots for leading fashion designers in Tokyo and her dramatic escape to West Berlin, where she witnessed the fall of the Iron Curtain. Klára Tasovská’s unusual documentary film, composed of thousands of photographs and pages from Jarcovjáková’s personal diaries, thrilled audiences at last year’s Berlinale and KVIFF, where, like Living Large, it was presented in the Special Screenings section. This very personal and suspenseful documentary is definitely worth seeing, and it is now one of several premium new additions on KVIFF.TV, available for subscribers for just CZK 55. Should the film leave you wanting to see more of Jarcovjáková’s work, her exhibition at Prague’s Trade Fair Palace runs until the end of March.
Director Kristina Dufková has adapted the bestselling book (original French title: La Vie, En Gros) into an animated film for the whole family. Living Large is a story of heartbreak, puppy love, and the ups and downs of growing up, told with humor and an upbeat soundtrack of songs. The film had its world premiere at the prestigious Annecy Film Festival and won the hearts of audiences in Karlovy Vary. It is currently one of several premium new additions on KVIFF.TV, available for subscribers for just CZK 55.
The texts for the film’s catchy songs were written by Jiří Macháček, and Czech audiences will surely recognize the voices of Jiří Bartoška, Tatiana Dyková, Eliška Křenková, and Simona Babčáková.
Living Large has also enjoyed international success, with distribution deals in France, Scandinavia, and Japan.
First-hand brews throughout the year.
