The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is gearing up for the celebration of its 50th anniversary which will take place July 3 to 11, 2015. On Thursday, the festival held a birthday party co-organised by the world’s most distinguished film magazine, Variety, right in the heart of the film world, in Hollywood. Among those in attendance at the celebration of the Karlovy Vary festival were stars who the festival awarded in previous years. Actor Jude Law, who makes no secret of being a great friend and supporter of the Karlovy Vary festival, is a recipient of the 2010 Karlovy Vary IFF President’s Award and also appears in one of the festival trailers.
The guests in Los Angeles also included Jacqueline Bisset, the leading actress in Truffaut’s legendary, Oscar-award winning film Day for Night. Bisset was honoured with the Award of the Town Karlovy Vary at the festival in 2004.
Representatives of the Karlovy Vary festival at the Soho House restaurant soiree also welcomed the young actress Holliday Grainger, who Czech audiences most recently had the opportunity to see in the new version of Cinderella, where she played one of the title character’s stepsisters, or in the series The Borgias. A number of journalists and film critics were also in attendance.
The KVIFF will be making its first announcements about the preparations for its 50th anniversary on Tuesday, April 28, in Prague.
