Forum of Independents - Competition 2007 / Schröders wunderbare Welt / Germany 2006
A gigantic investment project draws Frank Schroeder, assistant to a big investor, back to his birthplace, a small village in the region where Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic meet. An absurd comedy directed by Michael Schorr who, thanks to his laconic style, is well on the way to becoming the German Aki Kaurismäki.
A gigantic investment project takes Frank Schroeder, assistant to a big investor, back to his birthplace, a little village in the region where Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic meet. Torn between conflicting demands, pettiness and rivalries, his plan for cross-border cooperation threatens to go off the rails. But Schroeder doesn’t give up and things start moving. Till his boss decides to go on a wolf hunt. With his laconic narrative style and strong images, magnified by the static and deadpan camera angle, Michael Schorr is well on the way to becoming the German Aki Kaurismäki.
