Focus on Kurdish Film 2013 / Ghoroube halazoun / Iran 2012
A guard at a huge auto salvage yard lounges around among the dilapidated vehicles, clearly having resigned himself to fate. One day a mysterious woman in black grabs his attention.… A symbolic, poetic, and, at the same time, hyperrealistic film without words that makes use of a photogenic industrial landscape.
The young bearded guard at a huge auto salvage yard kills time loafing around among the junk cars, having written off ambition long ago. Clearly he has little regard for anyone or anything, not even for himself. One day he meets a mysterious woman in black. Although we can’t hear what they say to each other, it seems that something has stirred within him.… This symbolic, poetic, and at the same time hyperrealistic film about loneliness and the need to rally to overcome one’s own fate, makes advantageous use of a photogenic industrial landscape, with sunset as a backdrop to the vertical poles of high tension wires and the dark silhouettes of the characters.
