Silverlake, Los Angeles: a small boy steps on a bug and kills it. All events have their consequences: the death of the insect sets off a chain reaction, causing confrontation and collision between various characters in this bizarre comedy. Two lovers are lost and find themselves again, the owner of a Chinese restaurant, hounded by health inspectors, suffers a terrible end, a person trying to commit sucide is saved, and, in the nick of time, an important spare part reaches a plane waiting to take off. One joke follows another in quick succession in this fast-moving gag machine, which might be seen as a successful cinematic formulation of the chaos theory.
