Forum of Independents - Competition 2003 / Heirate mich / Germany 2003
The German Erik marries the Cuban mulatto Gladis who moves from Cuba to Hamburg with her 8-year-old son Omarito. An unusually open and funny documentary film about West and East, the battle of the sexes and the clash of two cultures.
Near Havanna’s Revolution Square, the beautiful mulatto Gladis gets engaged to the German Erik, whom she met in a disco one hot and humid Cuban night. They get married soon afterwards, and Gladis and her eight-year-old son Omarito move to Hamburg to be with Erik. An odyssey of hope and disappointment, conflict and tragi-comic events begins for all three of them. An unusually open and funny documentary film about departure and arrival, the battle of the sexes and the clash of two cultures.
