Forum of Independents - Competition 2004 / Los Guantes Mágicos / Argentina 2003
An absurd tragi-comedy about a taxi driver, who suddenly finds himself in the middle of a separation, very drastic climactic changes, sudden wealth, magic gloves, sudden impoverishment, pornographic film productions, a new relationship, extreme depression, an addiction to pills and alcohol, changes of domicile and job - among other things.
The Magic Gloves is an absurd tragicomedy about a taxi driver, Alejandro (driver of an old and ugly Renault 12), who suddenly finds himself in the middle of a separation, very drastic climatic changes, sudden wealth, characters who want to return to live in Argentina, others who leave for ever, magic gloves, sudden impoverishment, countless trips to the airport, pornographic film productions, a new relationship, extreme depression, an addiction to pills and alcohol, and changes of domicile and job, among other things. None of this seems to affect Alejandro much; in fact, he gives the impression that the only thing that affects him is his car. The action of The Magic Gloves is set in Buenos Aires, although the universe where the characters live and act is a very particular one. Buenos Aires appears as an island, an enclosed microcosm in which the characters and objects respond to a logic of their own.
