Another View 2001 / Tutta la conoscenza del mondo / Italy 2000
A student in love with a philosophy professor, a man in a wheelchair who yearns to walk again, a young man who becomes a pop star and desperately seeks spiritual guidance. . . . All these bizarre characters experience bizarre situations, they meet each other and then disappear. And then there’s the mysterious torch-bearer who perhaps doesn’t exist . . . . “It’s difficult to define the character in my film since it treats several genres,” says its maker. “Without resorting to illusion, I aimed to describe the endless quest for answers to fundamental questions such as who we are and what we are doing in this world. And I chiefly wanted to capture everything which discourages us from asking these questions and prevents us from finding the answers.”
