Variety Critics´ Choice 2002 / Ébrenjárók / Hungary 2002
Middle-aged clerk Sándor is fired from his job so he decides to start a new life. He is soon arrested for drunk driving, however, and ends up in a cell with Anna, a street trader selling cigarettes, and the labourer Bandi. These three apparent shipwreck survivors are the last island of innocence in a town full of fraudsters.
Sándor (Gyorgy Gazsó), a middle-aged office worker, is fired from his job and decides to start a new life. But he hasn´t gone very far when he´s stopped for drunk driving. Third main character is Bandi (Péter László a factory worker who receives a severe electric shock on the job, and begins to quarrel with family and friends. Sándor, Anna and Bandi eventually wind up in a jail cell together, but although they appear to be the losers - dreamers in a city peopled with hucksters and hustlers - they´re the ones who retain their innocence.
