Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York, USA. Fifteen years ago this neighbourhood was dubbed the crack-cocaine capital of the world. While the drug dealers are gradually disappearing, their unfortunate legacy still casts its shadow over the neighbourhood and its residents. Junior Moreno is an ex-convict struggling to get his life back on track. His younger brother Manito, or Manny, has just graduated as one of the best in his class and is planning to go to college. He is the hope for the future. But on the night of his graduation party, Manito finds himself having to make a decision which will change his life forever.

Eric Eason was born and raised in New York. He began filmmaking with a series of experimental Super-8 projects. Later he wrote and directed three 16 mm films that played at festivals in the United States and Europe. Manito is his feature-film directing debut.
