Awards: Critics’ Prize for Best Short, Best Direction, Best Camera, Best Editing at the 19th Festival of Brazilian Film in Gramad, Brazil, Best Film at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (1992) and at Caracas (1993).

Jorge Furtado (b. 1959) is an oft-awarded director and screenwriter, and lecturer in both Brazil and Cuba. From 1986 to 1988 he was conferred the title Professional of the Year. He has often been asked to sit on festival juries (Oberhausen, Germany; Siena, Italy; Gramado, Brazil), and has been honoured with retrospectives in Germany, Holland, Japan, Portugal and Brazil.
