In 1999 Ramón Gieling made a documentary about the documentary film Land Without Bread (Las Hurdes) which Luis Buňuel made in 1932 in the poorest region of northern Spain. He discovered Joaquín Funetes in Salamanca, who, like his father, became a projectionist for a travelling cinema .
