Czech Films 2015–2016 2016 / Ani ve snu! / Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Bulgaria 2016
Can you imprison someone in a dream? It’s very likely that teenager Laura has succeeded in doing just that, which isn’t so great because the prisoner is a good-looking traceur (a parkour participant) named Luky, her new love interest. A sports movie for the whole family that investigates Prague’s parkour community – while also adventuring to a prison of dreams in Normandy.
Can you imprison someone in a dream? It’s very likely that teenager Laura has succeeded in doing just that, which she’s not entirely thrilled about because the prisoner is a good-looking traceur (a parkour enthusiast) named Luky, her new love interest. Set in modern-day urban Prague, this sports movie for the whole family also tells a story of first love as it investigates the local parkour community, whose actual participants appear onscreen demonstrating their skills. Another nonprofessional actor, Barbora Štikarová, takes the role of lithe lead Laura. Screened at this year’s Berlinale, the picture blends the urban realities of gravity-defying teenagers with dream sequences that intensify their Normandy locations and entice Laura ever more frequently into their midst. In Your Dreams! continues the rich Czech tradition of movies for kids and teenagers with a story about the fragility of young emotions, where Prague is captured as a nighttime wonderland of infinite possibility.
