Czech Films 2015–2016 2016 / Já, Mattoni - Vídeňské líbánky / Czech Republic 2016
Immediately after his wedding night Heinrich Mattoni sets off for Vienna, where there’s everything to play for. The young entrepreneur has to prove that he really is capable of turning water into gold… This epic drama is also the third episode in the television series “I, Mattoni” about the founder of the famous water bottling plant. After the screening, Marek Najbrt will hold a masterclass on the creation of this historical series (in Czech only).
In thirteen episodes Czech Television’s historical series focuses on the life of Heinrich Mattoni, founder of the world famous mineral water company. In the third part, “Honeymoon in Vienna,” young Mattoni (David Švehlík) sets out for Vienna on his very first business trip. There’s a lot to play for. Everything, in fact. He has to prove to his father and father-in-law, and also to himself, that he really is capable of turning water into gold… But how is he meant to break into such a different and complex world? This epic drama, which will be aired in the autumn, begins in the first half of the 19th century and ends in 1910, thus covering the legendary “happy world” period when the horrors of war were still far off and Heinrich Mattoni was struggling for success, both in his professional and private life. Boasting a prominent Czech cast, the series is set among Karlovy Vary’s colonnades and in the spa town of Kyselka. After the screening, Marek Najbrt will hold a masterclass (in Czech only) on the creation of this historical series.
