2005: A Musical Odyssey 2005 / Radiohead Television: The Most Gigantic Lying Mouth of All Time / United Kingdom 2004
24 short films from all over the world with music by cult British band Radiohead. A fictional television broadcast: animation, experimental music, videos, bizarre interviews with members of the band.
Twenty-four short films featuring the music of the British band Radiohead who have acquired cult status over the last five years. Via the Internet, they called upon filmmakers from all over the world to contribute films which use Radiohead music, with the idea of presenting them on the group’s planned television channel. From the huge number of responses, 24 of the most remarkable were selected, colourful and multiform works which reflect the sceptical and bizarre atmosphere of the songs. The films frequently employ modern approaches in animation and image manipulation, as well as feature and puppet sequences. The four half-hour parts of the “series” are interwoven with comic “tabloid” interviews with singer Thom Yorke and his colleagues from the band, and rare musical performances by Radiohead. The television channel wasn’t launched in the end, and instead the group released the unique DVD as the first title on its own label.
