Future Frames: Ten New Filmmakers To Follow 2018 / Regained Memory / Netherlands, Bosnia and Herzegovina 2018
Fading memories and tough responsibilities that require a clear head, since following one’s heart isn’t enough. These are problems that weigh down upon Amir, a recently widowed man. A perceptive film about the parallels between childhood and parenthood, and about a past we have to accept so we can fully appreciate the present.
Memories that fade too fast and duties that are hard to take on if you don’t have a clear head – following one’s heart isn’t enough. These problems weigh down upon Amir, who has recently become a widower. The realisation that he can’t remember his late wife's face becomes a turning point that induces him to start delving into the past, into his childhood. Stijn Bouma’s thoughtful film reminds us how important it is to accept our own past so we can fully appreciate the present.
