Can the things from our nightmares enter our waking life? Inés is struggling to recover from a tragic loss, but the terrors she is experiencing threaten her work as a dubbing artist. Something seems to be creeping closer, and she is no longer sure if the people who want to help her are truly on her side. In The Intruder, which had its world premiere at the Berlinale in the main competition, Natalia Meta adopts a masterful approach to genre, crossing horror with psychological metaphors. The invisible monster takes shapes slowly thanks in part to Érica Rivas’s lead performance and also thanks to the sound design, which has been dramaturgically adapted to each specific setting: dubbing studio, concert hall, or the inner mechanism of an organ.
