Synopsis

When Memo, a pupil at an isolated Kurdish boarding school, falls sick, his best friend Yusuf quickly tries to find him the proper care. But instead of understanding from the teachers, he runs up against bureaucracy and an unwillingness to get involved. When the adults finally decide to take the boy to a hospital, the school is struck by a blizzard, making transport impossible. As the patient’s state worsens and the temperature drops inside the school, the atmosphere among the teachers and pupils thickens and the finger-pointing starts. Ferit Karahan’s chilling drama explores the sense of detachment created by authoritarian institutions in which even the youngest members of society are often forced to grow up too fast.
