The shift has hardly begun for head chef Andy and he’s already behind with everything. His restaurant is overbooked, there’s a disgruntled inspector combing the kitchen and, if that weren’t enough, a culinary icon and a respected food critic have turned up for dinner. Via a single, continuous shot, we are launched into what proves to be a very hectic evening… The superb Stephen Graham takes the lead role in a British film about anyone who’s ever been stressed out at work and got themselves into a stew.
Synopsis
Head chef Andy’s shift has hardly begun at his restaurant and he’s already behind with everything. It’s the last Friday before Christmas and everyone wants to treat themselves to great food. The hostess has overbooked, a disgruntled inspector is combing the kitchen and, if that weren’t enough, Andy’s mentor, a culinary icon, shows up unannounced with his partner, a respected food critic. Things just couldn’t get any worse. Via a single, continuous shot, we are launched into what proves to be a very hectic evening… This British film starring the superb Stephen Graham hurtles along at a relentless tempo reflecting the pace of life in the gastro business. But it will certainly chime with anyone who’s ever been stressed out at work and got themselves into a stew.
