Three close friends, Crista, Carloto, and João – along with the entire film crew – become the protagonists of a cinematic experiment shot during lockdown. Crista, Carloto, and João want to build a greenhouse for butterflies. But these three friends aren’t alone in their interest in this project. They are joined by the filmmakers themselves, Miguel Gomes and Maureen Fazendeiro, who – along with the entire film crew – become the protagonists of this cinematic experiment. Here, fiction imperceptibly blends with documentary sequences in order to reveal the creative process as the directors share their sense of pure joy from working with the cinematic medium. The pandemic may have uncompromisingly complicated all our lives, but for the filmmakers it was a challenge to find inspiration in limitation.
