What is this film about? About superheroes who resemble the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers but call themselves the Tobacco Force and kill extraterrestrial monsters using nicotine? Or is it about the scary stories they tell each other by the campfire when their boss, the perpetually drooling rat Didier, sends them on a vacation in the woods? Hard to say. King of twisted ideas Quentin Dupieux returns with an (anti-)smoking comedy about saving the world.
What's this film about? A group of superheroes who uncannily resemble the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers many of us will remember from the TV. They are called the Tobacco Force, and they kill supernatural monsters from the cosmos using nicotine and carbon monoxide although, good role models that they are, they never touch cigarettes themselves. Since they are burnt out from saving the world, their boss – the perpetually drooling rat Didier – tells them to go and relax in the woods. By the campfire they try to frighten each other with scary stories. Is this what the film is about? Quentin Dupieux, king of ideas that transcend our ordinary experience of reality, presents a tale about the difficulties of being a superhero, grilled barracuda, and the operator of an agricultural threshing machine.
