A futile voyage, or a journey from which everyone returns enriched? Director Helena Wittmann sends out a crew of five men and one woman into the Mediterranean Sea, yet no conflict arises during their expedition. Instead we follow situations, none of which has a dramatic edge over another. The procedural film respects the aimless nature of drifting and appears to capture the process of learning and discovery. This hypnotic, irresistibly shimmering work unobtrusively seeks poetry in the commonplace and, in its finest moments, touches upon the mythical archetype - among others, thanks to the way in which it is able, through detail, to convey impressions from diverse situations.
