Twins Kolya and Vasya make a fine pair: one is a small-time con artist, the other an upright police officer. But neither has had much success in life, so they decide to do at least one thing right: together, they set out for faraway Luxembourg to visit their dying father, whom they haven’t seen in twenty years and whose adventurous life is shrouded in legend. The director’s second, again partially autobiographical, film sensitively combines cheerful and melancholy scenes into a tragicomic tale of people looking for the things missing from their lives – and of losses that are ultimately rewarding.
