Budapest, 2123. All plant and animal life has died out. Humanity is living inside a plastic-roofed dome whose inhabitants must pay a high price for survival: When they are fifty years old, they must allow themselves to be injected with a seed that will turn them into trees to provide society with food and oxygen. When Nora, the 32-year-old wife of psychiatrist Stefan, decides to end her life and to donate her body, her husband decides to go against the system in order to save her. An animated dystopian odyssey featuring evocative images of the inhospitable landscape “out there,” White Plastic Sky stands out for its urgent environmental message.
