After completing his most recent film, Tomas begins an affair with the teacher Agathe. By giving in to his desire for the unknown – being with a woman – he tests the patience of his husband Martin, with whom he shares an idyllic but staid life. In his eighth film, Ira Sachs, a master at capturing even the most subtle nuances of relationships, explores the complicated nature of love triangles. Sachs has entrusted the lead roles to well-known faces of European cinema Franz Rogowski, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Ben Whishaw. His cast breathes life into characters who, against the backdrop of contemporary Paris, repeatedly discover that human desire can be searing, but also fickle and constantly changing.
