Synopsis
To mark the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Bruce Lee, the Karlovy Vary film festival is screening one of the most important action films in the history of cinema. The Way of the Dragon is the third and most distinctive of the Hong Kong films that made Lee an international star. Unlike The Big Boss or Fist of Fury, it is set not in Asia but in Rome, where Lee's character comes to the aid of his relatives against a mafia syndicate. From today’s perspective, the film is a survey of Lee’s iconic scenes, including his screams imitating the meowing of cats and his final battle against Chuck Norris in the Colosseum. For this outing, Lee sat in the director’s chair as well and thus had full control over his last film.
