A cinematic monument, erected as an homage to a man who was fascinated with history and with the miracle of human communication. Told in various chapters, Ferrario’s film takes us on a tour of the mental world of a man whose insatiable sense of amazement and insightful intellect ensured his legacy in Western culture not just as a leading academic but also as a widely recognized author of fiction. The director intersperses archival footage with a tour of Eco’s famous personal library, interviews with members of his family, and excerpts from his writings, while also touching on themes that have taken on greater importance since Eco’s death in 2016.
