It would be difficult to find a more polluted city on Earth than the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar. Most of the city’s inhabitants live in yurts and use coal to stay warm during the cold winter months. Teenager Ulzii is used to these conditions, but he wants more. He excels in physics and dreams of studying at a prestigious foreign university. But when his mother leaves to work in the countryside, he is forced to look after his younger siblings and to put his plans on hold. While some bears hibernate all winter in a soothing slumber, others must dig in their claws and struggle against fate. This masterful debut is a subdued celebration of the power of human determination. Battsooj Uurtsaikh excels in his first major role.
