Cape Verde as the setting for the archetypal tale of three sisters, who were separated by the eruption of the country’s “Peak of Fire”, the volcano Pico do Fogo. Left to the quirky imagination of Pedro Costa, however, the dramatic contours of the story swiftly crumble. A molten cinematic performance, engulfed by an inner flame, which sometimes warms us, while at other times it burns us.
