A soup is boiling in a copper pot, a firmly clenched knife is chopping green herbs, and not far away a turbot is soaking in white wine. It is 1885, and a large home in the Loire Valley is awakening to a fresh morning. Famed gourmand Dodin is overflowing with fresh culinary recipes, which his faithful cook Eugénie turns into reality. Their perfectly balanced meals testify to their mutual understanding of more than a thousand gestures, and Dodin would like for Eugénie to become his wife. But his proposal threatens her independence. This sensual homage to French gastronomy and restrained romance spiced up by the purest form of love won Best Director at Cannes.
