In his latest film, Victor Kossakovsky looks at architecture as something that tells us more about the future of humanity than its past. Architecton is a meditative yet excitingly compelling audiovisual spectacle, framed by the philosophical views of Italian architect Michele De Lucchi. Is stone as a building material truly what unites the world’s nations across the continents? What is the relationship between the temple ruins at Baalbek and a prefabricated housing estate in contemporary Ukraine? Kossakovsky invites us to ponder these and other questions through observational as well as captivating and stylized documentary footage.
