The Wish To Be a Red Indian: Kafka and Cinema 2024 / Kafka inaka isha / Japan 2007
This short film by eminent Japanese animator Kôji Yamamura, adapting Kafka’s short story of the same name, re-creates the Kafkaesque experience – a combination of unnatural terror and incredibly dark humour – with the aid of the traditional Japanese comic theatre known as kyōgen. All the action is distorted and, at the same time, subjected to unsustainable ridicule.
