Director Ale and actor Alex split up after fourteen years in a relationship together. Inspired by Ale’s father, who once told them that the end of a relationship should be a cause for celebration, they decide to throw a party in honor of their break-up. Together, they share their idea with family and close friends, and in the end the complicated journey towards marking the end of their relationship ends up being more important than the celebration itself. After The August Virgin (2019) and You Have to Come and See It (2022), Jonás Trueba returns to Karlovy Vary with his latest film, recently screened at the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes, where he uses the language of love and film to speak about film and love.
