Ruby, Nicole, and Élise are friends who share everything – good and bad. But one hot summer night changes their lives forever. At first, they just casually check out the good-looking guy across the street, but the evening turns into a bloodbath and the trio are forced to deal with the situation. Evoking both tears of laughter and bouts of sadness, The Balconettes teeters between horror and comedy as it loudly proclaims that women’s minds and bodies have the same rights and value as men’s. This vivid genre blend was co-written by two distinctive filmmakers, Noémie Merlant and Céline Sciamma, who met while working on the award-winning Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
