The KVIFF Eastern Promises industry platform unveiled 39 selected film projects which will be showcased at the Works in Progress, Works in Development – Feature Launch & Intensive Queer, First Cut+ Works in Progress and Works in Development – KVIFF Talents presentations. The most promising projects, selected by international juries, will receive awards with a total value of 110,000 EUR.
"We think we are bringing a solid diversity of projects from different corners of the world, all deserving to be noticed by the producers, festivals, sales and distributors. All projects have been carefully picked out from a great pool of submissions and I am sure this is not the last time you will hear about them!” says Hugo Rosák, Head of KVIFF Industry Office, about this year's selection.
The showcasing of projects to industry professionals will take place in Karlovy Vary, during this year's KVIFF Industry Days:

Monday, July 1: Works in Development – Feature Launch & Intensive Queer
Monday, July 1: Works in Progress
Tuesday, July 2: First Cut+ Works in Progress
All showcases take place at the Film Industry Main Stage in Imperial Spa.

For Works in Progress, a total of 12 fiction and documentary feature films in the late stage of production or post-production from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, and North Africa have been selected. The jury consists of Gabor Greiner, Kyle Greenberg and Başak Emre.

Works in Development is a platform organised as a collaboration between KVIFF, the MIDPOINT Institute international script development program, When East Meets West co-production market and Trieste Film Festival. This year, in addition to nine projects developed within the perennial Feature Launch program, KVIFF Eastern Promises will also showcase four projects from the MIDPOINT – Intensive Queer program, designed to foster diversity in storytelling and provide crucial support to filmmakers in the realm of queer narratives. The projects, now looking for co-production partners, will compete for the traditional 10,000 EUR Development Award, awarded by jury consisting of Danijel Hočevar, Christina Tynkevych and Arnaud Gourmelen, as well as a brand new Eurimages Co-production Development Award of 20,000 EUR, awarded by a jury consisting of Paolo Ciccarelli, Claudia Bluemhuber and Ilinka Teodorescu.

KVIFF Talents is a year-long program with the purpose of seeking out and supporting talented Czech and Slovak filmmakers and innovative audiovisual genres. This year, three feature film treatments will be presented in the Feature Pool section, while the Creative Pool consists of three series' projects that are looking for co-production partners and also compete for the aforementioned Eurimages Co-Production Award.

First Cut+ Works in Progress is a program created for boosting the competitiveness and marketability of feature films that previously participated in First Cut Lab. Each year, it promotes a portfolio of 16 fiction feature films at the stage of post-production – eight of them will be presented in Karlovy Vary. The First Cut+ jury consists of Barbara Wurm, Lenka Tyrpáková and John Nein.
