Forum of Independents 2001 / Thomas est amoureux / Belgium, France 2000
Thirty-two-year-old Thomas suffers from agoraphobia - he is afraid of open spaces. This makes his life unbearable. He stopped working eight years previously, invested all his money and now lives in a luxurious apartment which he never leaves. He never sees anyone, at least not in the flesh: his sole means of communication are his videophone and computer. After eight years of unsuccessful treatment, Thomas’ therapist decides to intervene in his patient’s life and, in spite of his protests, enrols Thomas in a lonely hearts’ club. But Thomas has no need for company, and he certainly has no desire to get married or even fall in love. Why can’t people just leave him alone? This absurd black comedy is a must for all fans of virtual reality!
